Sudhakar Rao

Sudhakar Rao was born in 1936, during the times of the British Raj. He derives great pride from the progress and rich heritage of his country, evident in many of his short stories. His father was a high ranking administrative official during the days of India as a colony of the English as well as in the early years post independence. Dr. Rao has many fond memories of his childhood and youth as the progeny of a "Brown Sahib" and many of his stories are set in this era. These stories are a mine of information on now extinct vocations, cultural practices, religious customs etc.
His alter-ego is Dr. Mysore Sudhakar Rao, a renowned Urologist with more than 300 technical publications to his credit. He underwent training in both India and the United States; at the Patna Medical University, Bihar, India, the Lahey Clinic, Boston, United States, and the Mass. Dr. Rao has contributed to Urology at many different establishments in various parts of the world; at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science and Research in Chandigarh, India, at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, India, and at Al Manara Hospital in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. He is passionate about traveling and has been a visitor to many parts of USA, Canada, Europe, Middle East, and India. Drawing from his experiences both as a visitor and as a resident in different parts of the world, his stories often focus on the experiences of an individual of Indian origin in a hitherto unfamiliar country.
